Designing Areawide Control for Mealybugs and the Leafroll Pathogens
(CCA 1.5 IPM |DPR 1.5 O)
Research and field experience in California has demonstrated that mealybugs feeding on winegrapes vector very important leafroll viruses, some of the most serious diseases of winegrapes due to their ability to significantly shorten the commercial life of a vineyard and reduce winegrape quality. It has been determined that the most efficacious way to manage this pest complex is through developing an areawide management program that all growers participate in. This presentation wil be a detailed discussion of the pest management practices to implement in an areawide program, its evolution in development, its efficacy and how to encourage growers to participate.
